1. Preparation
Surface Cleaning: Before welding, remove oil, rust, and other contaminants from the nut and workpiece surfaces to avoid weld porosity.
Material Selection: Weld nuts are generally suitable for thin plates under 6 mm to minimize deformation and ensure a beautiful weld.
2. Welding Parameter Settings
Current and Polarity: Use direct current, with the negative electrode connected to the welding wire or workpiece to avoid welding defects.
Shielding Gas: 99.99% pure argon is recommended. The flow rate should be adjusted based on the current (8-10 L/min for 50-150 A, 12-15 L/min for 150-250 A).
3. Welding Operation
Angle Control: Maintain an 80-85° angle between the centerline of the tungsten electrode and the workpiece, and keep the filler wire at a less than 10° angle to the workpiece surface. Tungsten Electrode Length: The protruding length of the tungsten electrode from the gas nozzle is generally 5mm. This can be shortened to 2-3mm in special locations (such as corners).
4. Fixing and Positioning
Pre-fixing Methods: Before welding, use bolts or dowel pins to secure the nut to ensure accurate positioning.
Post-welding Treatment: After cooling, remove the temporary fasteners and inspect the weld for uniformity and firmness.
5. Safety and Quality Inspection
Ventilation and Protection: Maintain ventilation during welding. Use screens and ventilation equipment for indoor work.
Quality Verification: Inspect the weld for pores and cracks, and verify that the nut is secure and not loose.
