1. Choose the right surface treatment process
Different surface treatment processes have a significant impact on the aging resistance of the coating:
Galvanized coating: Galvanized coating is the most common surface treatment method. By plating a layer of zinc on the surface of the screw, it can effectively prevent oxidation and corrosion. The passivated galvanized layer is baked and aged to significantly improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance of the film.
Dacromet coating: Dacromet is a zinc-based chromium salt protective coating with excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and can resist neutral salt spray for more than 300 hours. However, it should be noted that Dacromet coating will age rapidly under light, so the coating process should be carried out indoors.
Electrophoretic coating: The electrophoretic coating forms an organic coating layer on the surface of the screw by electrochemical methods, which has good corrosion resistance and decorative properties.
Blackening treatment: The blackening treatment forms an oxide film on the surface of the screw through a chemical reaction, which has certain corrosion resistance and lubricity.
2. Storage conditions
Dry ventilation: Set screws should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment to avoid moisture and water accumulation.
Avoid light and high temperature: Dacromet coating is sensitive to light and should be avoided from long-term exposure to strong light. At the same time, the storage environment should avoid high temperature to prevent coating aging.
Keep away from corrosive substances: Avoid placing screws together with acids, alkalis, solvents or other corrosive substances.
3. Regular maintenance
Regular inspection: Regularly check the surface coating status of the screws to promptly detect and deal with coating damage or aging problems.
Cleaning and rust prevention: Regularly clean dust and impurities on the surface of the screws, and apply anti-rust oil or rust inhibitor if necessary.
4. Treatment after coating aging
If the coating has shown signs of aging, the following measures can be taken:
Re-coating: For aged or damaged coatings, consider re-surface treatment, such as re-galvanizing or re-coating with Dacromet.
Replacement of screws: If the coating is severely aged and cannot be repaired, it is recommended to replace the screws with new ones.
