1. Maximize space utilization
Single-side operation: only need to weld from one side of the plate, no tool space is required on the other side, suitable for closed boxes, pipes and other inaccessible areas.
Flat design: no protruding head on the surface after welding (such as flange edge for rivet nuts), saving assembly space for compact equipment (such as robot joints).
2. Structural strength and reliability
Torsion/shear resistance: The weld nugget forms a rigid connection, and the risk of loosening under dynamic loads (such as vibrating machinery) is much lower than that of rivets or self-tapping threads.
Load dispersion: The weld leg of the convex weld nut disperses stress to the base material, avoiding stress concentration at the root of the thread, suitable for heavy loads (such as engineering machinery frames).
3. Design flexibility
Base material compatibility: can be welded to special-shaped curved surfaces (such as hydraulic cylinder housings), while rivets require flat surfaces.
Freedom of thread direction: can be designed to be vertical, inclined or hidden (such as the inside of a car seat rail), breaking through the direction restrictions of traditional nuts.
4. Process and cost advantages
No pre-processing required: no need to precisely control the ratio of hole diameter to plate thickness like riveting, reducing the tolerance requirements of sheet metal parts.
Automation-friendly: resistance projection welding can be integrated into production lines (such as automotive welding robots), with a cycle time of less than 1 second per piece, and the labor cost is much lower than manually tightening nuts.
Reduced number of parts: no auxiliary parts such as gaskets and anti-loosening glue (such as ladder fixing of wind turbine towers) are required.
5. Extreme environment adaptability
Sealing: After welding, an airtight/liquid-tight joint can be formed (such as fuel tank sensor installation) to avoid leakage.
High temperature resistance: stainless steel welding nuts can be used for engine exhaust pipes (>500℃) for a long time, while plastic inserts will fail.
