1. Slight rust
If the Tapping screws have only slight rust on the surface, but the threads and structure are not damaged, they can usually still be used. It is recommended to clean them first:
Use a wire brush or sandpaper to gently polish the rust.
After cleaning, wash with warm water and soap, and dry thoroughly.
Apply a layer of anti-rust oil or anti-rust agent on the surface of the screw to prevent further rust.
2. Moderate rust
If the rust is obvious, but the threads and drill bits are not seriously damaged, you can try to repair it:
Soak or spray the screws with rust remover to remove the rust.
After cleaning, check whether the threads and drill bits are intact. If there is no obvious damage, they can continue to be used.
The repaired screws need to be re-applied with anti-rust coating.
3. Severe rust
If the threads, drill bits or structure of the screws are damaged by rust, it is recommended not to use them:
Severe rust may cause the strength of the screws to decrease, affecting the fastening effect.
In this case, new screws should be replaced to ensure the safety and reliability of the connection.
4. Preventive measures
To prevent Tapping screws from rusting, the following measures are recommended:
Choose the right material: Stainless steel or galvanized screws are preferred.
Store properly: Store the screws in a dry, ventilated environment, avoid moisture and high temperature.
Check regularly: Check the rust of the screws regularly, and clean and maintain them in time.
